Integrated electric parking brake system.
The iEPB system consists of a control unit and an actuator powered by an electric motor and reduction gears. Instead of pushing a pedal or yanking on a handle to set the parking brake, the iEPB system enables the driver to apply or to release the parking brake by touching a button, or it can work automatically. The iEPB system also can support multiple intelligent functions by being integrated with some sensors of the vehicle such as (a) the parking brake is automatically activated when the ignition key is removed, (b) the parking brake is automatically released when the car is started up, (c) the driver can easily start and not roll backward on hills, (d) Auto Hold and other functions. Compared with existing products, ARTC’s iEPB has shorter activated time and lower noise.

The iEPB can be used in sedans, pickups, electric vehicles, ATVs and other vehicles.
ARTC has established EPB technologies which include intelligence gathering about patents and technologies, actuator design/analysis/prototyping/patent portfolio, design and development of electronic control units, etc. The establishment can make domestic component manufacturers have capabilities of system integration. Moreover, the EPB can improve the existing system from mechanical control to electronic control, simplify the assembly procedure, reduce the system weight, and make the parking brake more intelligent, which makes the EPB more competitive in the market.
