A Multiple Turn Achievement of Advanced Parking Guidance System in Parallel Parking via Sensor Fusion

    This paper devotes to design and integrate a hybrid and innovative vehicle control scheme for parallel parking to reduce parking space. The scheme presents a solution of remote control for parallel parking using multiple-turn control and sensor fusion, including ultrasonic scanning, image display, steering control and self-positioning. To scan a suitable parking space, ultrasonic sensors perform the task. The vision is applied by a camera and it plays the role of displaying rear image and parking space selection. The developed system only requires about 1.25 times vehicular length using Fuzzy-PID steering tracking control and self-positioning via odometry, and it helps driver have an active-safety vehicle parking. The proposed system is carried out with theoretical algorithm and hardware integration, and the result shows vehicle control applicability.
